Frequently Asked Questions
I work with women who don’t fit the typical stereotype of emotional eaters.
Therefore, working together would be a fantastic fit if any of these are true for you:
💗 You strive for excellence.
💗 You know a lot about food, nutrition, and exercise... but peace with food and your body remains elusive.
💗 Using food to cope, soothe, and escape your busy, stressful life is holding you back from reaching higher levels of success in your personal and professional life.
💗 You've never been taught tools that actually work for you to manage and move through difficult thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
💗 Your emotional eating has been a secret that you’ve been harboring for years. Now more than ever you want to be free.
💗 You value high-level support and world-class intuitive coaches so you can break through your inner glass ceiling.
Many women who strive for excellence will downplay their personal issues to avoid feeling any difficult feelings that pop up when they even consider being honest about their struggles.
Additionally, we live in a patriarchal society where women are indoctrinated to defer their needs, hopes, and dreams for the sake of others and the family. Gaslighting yourself is an example of this.
It’s time to take your experiences, your health, and your desires seriously. Submit your application for a Discovery Session, and if your experiences truly are “no big deal”, I will tell you.
If therapy isn't tackling your issues with food, you are in the right place!
While some of my clients would describe our work together as a marriage of “food therapy” and health/life coaching, here is a quick snapshot of the difference between conventional therapy and my role as your coach.
Other important notes:
Since therapists are medical professionals, they tend to address issues with food solely in the mental capacity. For some, this limited approach can cause many missing pieces for the client.
This was my personal experience and something I wish I had known before spending 936 hours in therapy, and it never healed my issues with food.
This was a major motivating factor behind the creation of Escape From Emotional Eating and my unique approach - because it’s what’s needed to create the freedom and peace you’ve been longing for.
On top of that, my clients often tell me that we get more done in 15 minutes than they do in 4 hours with their therapist.
Comparatively, an eating disorder clinic is a much more severe and extreme form of treatment. For example, many treatment centers will remove the patient’s autonomy and agency around food until stabilization. Which means you will be told when to eat, what to eat, and be monitored in the process.
My clients don’t need such extreme forms of treatment.
I work with my clients in all 3 ways depending on the type of session and what would serve the specific client the best.
For example, for all of my international clients (outside the United States), we connect via Zoom. No need to call long-distance!
For both calls in the Discovery Session Process, we connect via Zoom to support getting to know each other.
For more intensive and experiential sessions, like my ESCAPE retreats, we would meet in person.
Details about specific sessions and how we will meet are laid out in the official Program Guide during the Discovery Process.
Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in this general FAQs page. Everyone’s health and circumstances are unique to them. The length of time to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek assistance in the first place.
From my 13+ years of doing this work, we need at least a year together in order to get the most benefit and for true change to start to occur. 88% of clients choose to continue to receive support from Jessica beyond their first year.
You can expect me to be 100% committed to you, your goals, and doing whatever it takes.
Throughout our work together, you will experience what I call the Emotional Eating Extinction Process. This is where you will gradually and organically become disinterested in emotional eating behaviors and trigger foods. Episodes will become less frequent and less intense. Until your emotional eating becomes extinct.
And it continues to get better from there!
On the inside: you will have less stress, less anxiety, and more peace and clarity. You will break free from perfectionism and people-pleasing.
On the outside: you will eat when you are hungry, and stop when you are full. Your physical body will lighten. You will no longer push yourself to unhealthy extremes of exhaustion and know when to say "enough is enough".
Overall, we will have freed up a tremendous amount of energy and brain space that you get to choose what you channel it towards - better marriage, a new job, pursuing your passions, mothering your kids like a she-wolf, or even just enjoying a good night’s sleep consistently… There is no limit to the possibilities here!
This is a common question, and at Escape From Emotional Eating, we understand this can be an important aspect when deciding to work together.
For our work together to be effective, it will require a commitment of time, energy, and resources. Escape From Emotional Eating helps to make this possible in a couple of ways. We take Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. We offer generous payment plan options for each program, which are mapped out in the Official Program Guide shared with you during your private Discovery Process.
Like all investments, you want to consider the return on your investment. In our work together, it could look like:
💗 Being free from addictive and compulsive patterns
💗 Living life full out
💗 Having inner peace no matter where you are or what is going on
💗 Landing that *dream* job or opportunities - (note: 89% of clients experience a raise in income during the first year as a direct result of our work together)
💗 Finally having the courage to date again or work on your marriage
💗 Having the time, energy, and space to pursue your passions
💗 And so much more!
I work with my clients in programs. This provides a solid “container” of support and accountability for transformation where we turn “breakdowns” into breakthroughs!
You'll get to choose which program is the best fit for you because they vary in length and level of support. This will be part of the Discovery Process together.
Therefore, I do not have an hourly rate when I work with my clients.
A handful of my clients use their pre-tax HSA (Health Savings Account) to reimburse themselves for our work together.
We are unable to process HSA debit cards directly.
In some cases, you may need documentation of a diagnosis or obtain a Letter Of Medical Necessity from your Doctor.
If needed, Jessica is happy to collaborate with you and your Doctor for supporting documentation.
Important: The information here on this general FAQs page should not be considered financial, legal, or tax advice.
Our work together is private and confidential.
Unlike a therapist, I am not required to report session notes to any other party, like an insurance company.
Our work together is “off the record,” and many of my clients work with me specifically for this reason. Therefore, it will not show up on your official medical record, it will not negatively impact any future application for life insurance, and it will not negatively impact your career.
For personal relationships, Jessica can advise you on how to have courageous conversations with others (spouse, family, friends, etc.) about your work together, if needed, when needed. The people who love you may notice you becoming less cranky, more healthy, more happy, more present, more peaceful, and more fun.
For special circumstances, I have a unique program called Mothers, Daughters, & Food for women who are aware that their daughter needs support as well in healing their relationship with food. If this is you, please bring your interest with you to your Discovery Session where we can explore this more.
I have worked with men in the past, with great success, because with the right support and a little bit of willingness, change WAS possible. If you feel this program may be a fit for you, please bring your interest with you to your Discovery Session Application, where we can start to explore this more.
