A few of my favorite things (October Edition)
Every once in a while, I come across something that brings me so much joy that I just have to share it with the people I love. Since you are a part of my inner circle 😉 I wanted to share a few things I have been using and loving in my personal life in hopes that it will elevate yours as well!
Here is what I’ve been excited about this season:
With the Holidays on the horizon, Zach’s birthday coming up, and our 5-year wedding anniversary around the corner, I have been so excited to break out my reusable gift wrap from last year to wrap all my gifts in.
Last year, I scoured the internet looking for a reusable gift wrap option that was chic and seasonal (aka red and green for Christmas, blue and silver for Channukah, more universal colors for Birthdays, etc.), and would help me do my part to eliminate waste.
And I was soooo happy when I found Rapt and even MORE happy at how easy wrapping Christmas presents was last year that I just had to share this with everyone I know!
I purchased the Neutral Family Set, which came in this adorable woven basket (organizing made easy!), and the Holiday Starter Set. Zach and I had more than enough (aka I ordered too much – haha!) to wrap all our Holiday presents for our family members and us.
Last year I purchased my set in November, and they were already mostly sold out. However, looking at their website now, they have a lot more options than last year and are fully stocked as of now, so I would recommend purchasing now so you get what you want!
I also love that this small company is woman-owned, the products are handmade from leftover scraps, and we share an affinity for pom poms.
With the weather turning colder here in Philadelphia, I have ditched the iced coffee and gone back to my tried and true cup of tea to warm my body. In the morning, I will brew a cup of Mighty Leaf’s Green Tea Tropical. I love how it’s not a “grassy” tasting green tea. I literally have been drinking this tea for over a decade.
But what I’ve REALLY been obsessed with is a cup of Rishi’s Lavender Mint Tea in the evening. After dinner, Zach and I will usually curl up on the couch to watch Jeopardy (it’s not really as relaxing as it sounds since we are screaming the answers at the TV the whole time – I am pretty competitive). But after I’ll make myself a cup of this Lavender Mint Tea with a little bit of honey before bed. It always hits the spot!
While I teach a suite of tools specifically designed to support my clients in managing difficult emotions and energy, I personally have recently found myself using an oldie-but-a-goodie tool from Julia Cameron called Morning Pages.
I remember first learning about Morning Pages 12+ years ago when I was in nutrition school and going through lots of turbulence and change in my life at that time. Just getting my thoughts down on the page allowed me to get in touch with my inner voice and heart’s true desires without a filter and without that awkward “what am I supposed to write” when it came to journaling.
When I think back, it was the practice of Morning Pages that had me realize that my issues with food weren’t “normal” and that there was something deeper going on for me.
And here I am again, many years later in another season of turbulence and change, reaching for this “old friend” of Morning Pages to help me through it.
Click here to watch Julia Cameron’s instructions on the simple yet profound process if you’re interested in trying this yourself.
Hope you find something fun or inspiring in these resources that support your body, mind, and soul in being of full service to you, your calling, and your purpose. Remember, if you want to thrive in this world, using food to cope will only get in your way.
I’d love to hear what you’re currently loving too… got a new recipe, book, or gizmo that brings joy to your life? I’d love to hear about it! Just hit “reply” and let me know!
In service to your freedom,
