“therapy hasn’t tackled my issues with food”

Jessica Procini | Escape From Emotional Eating

I spent 936 hours in therapy before I had a heart-breaking realization that changed everything for me.

Therapy wasn’t tackling my issues with food.

I hear this same epiphany from a lot of women in my Discovery Sessions, so today I’m going to share just a few insights from both my personal experience and professional expertise.

Specifically, why so many of us smart, successful, high-achieving women are failed by the therapy model when it comes to our issues with food.  And what to do instead.

Therapy sees and treats issues with food solely as a mental health issue. This is a very narrow approach when there is so much more to the nuanced relationship-with-food equation

I wish I had known this back in the day because it would have saved me years of struggle and strife. But it’s ultimately what motivated me to provide a different, deeper approach and create the Escape From Emotional Eating Programs.

In my work with my clients, we do things differently!

We address the INNER WORK: your emotional body, your thoughts, beliefs, mindset, and your intuition.

And the OUTER WORK: your specific habits, patterns, behaviors, and actions with food.

So no aspect of yourself is left behind.

From my experience in therapy, there was a lot of talking – YEARS of talking – but not a whole lot of behavior change.

Haven’t you had a number of therapy sessions where you just talked in circles for an hour?

Or perhaps you were handed a xeroxed worksheet only to be left wondering, “But what do I DO with this information?”

Yeah, me too. That’s because when it comes to your relationship with food, therapy lacks setting goals, support with strategic implementation, and strong accountability – all of which you will find in the coaching I do with my clients

It’s what’s truly needed to change your relationship with food and your body.

Many more aspects differentiate my unique work from therapy. It’s like comparing apples and oranges
