3 Ways To Jumpstart Your Post-Holiday Detox

January 6, 2014

Today is the first official J-ciniTV episode of 2014 and I’m THRILLED to share it with you.

As you can see, the LYS team and I have been working like mighty little mice through a huge makeover and we’ve got such a pretty new playground to Laugh Ourselves Skinny in! After you watch today’s episode, poke around on here and check out the new site!

Anyhooo – I’m sure your holidays and new years were one big month-long celebration that may have you feeling less than fabulous. Don’t get me wrong – I love a good glass of champagne and chocolate cookie sandwiches from Sweet Freedom here in Philly, but after nightly indulgences my body is craving a good cleanse.

Now if you think I’m clearing my social calendar and drinking juice for 3 days straight in an effort to get back on track…come on! You know me better than that!

I’ve learned the hard way that the only thing waiting for me at the end of a juice cleanse is a binge, so I never recommend it to you, especially if you struggle with emotional eating like me.

I’ve got something waaaay better than that.

In this episode of J-ciniTV, I give you a run down of what I’m doing to detox, without wanting to punch my friend and steal her pizza.

Indulge in this week’s dose of skinny:

Now, making change requires ACTION so here’s this week’s “coach’s challenge” which will help you get on the fast track to dropping a pant size.

In the comments below, share: what’s one thing you’re going to do to get back on track without starving yourself?

Excited to get the accountability party going! See you in the conversation below 🙂

Cheers to a love, health and laughter in 2014!

xoxo

Oprah ain't got nothin' on me! Jess's favorite things…

December 11, 2013

Ever been asked, “What do you want for (your birthday, Christmas, Chanukah, etc.)?” and hoping that whoever asked will know you well enough to get you that diamond you’ve had your eye on… so you give the canned reply of “Nothinggg.”

When did asking for what we really want seem like too much?

For years my parents required I hand over my Christmas list. Anything that was on the list had receiving potential.

My mom started this tradition so the holidays for her were a heck of a lot easier… and fun! Instead of lamenting over whether I’d like the black or brown uggs and racking her brain if I’m a size 6 or 7, she could spend more time relaxing knowing she got exactly what I wanted.

As women, we can spend so much time thinking up and researching gift ideas for others, it can be really difficult to know exactly what WE want.

So in this episode of J-ciniTV, I’ve put together some of MY favorite things that help me stay slim and trim all year long, in hopes it’ll spark some ideas of what you’d like to receive.

And because I’m so grateful that you’re apart of my world and watch J-ciniTV, there are some special deals for each one too, just for you 😉

Traveling? How to Avoid Airplane Bloat

December 3, 2013

I hope your Thanksgiving weekend was fabulous! Mine will certainly go down in history since Saturday I rescued a puppy…

I’m a little biased but isn’t he the cutest? His name is CJ.

If we’re friends on Facebook or you check out my pics on instagram, I’m always leavin’ on a jet plane / traveling. And for years that was a major reason why I never said yes to my desire to have a dog.

But I recently realized that my lifestyle isn’t going to change anytime soon, nor do I want it to, so it was time to figure out a way to have both – travel and a dog I love.

(Just like with losing weight… you CAN have a life, fun and eat the foods you love AND lose weight.)

Now, rewind a couple years ago and similar to the dog situation, I thought if I traveled a lot I couldn’t have the body I loved.

I used to think “where will I work out?”, “will I even have time to work out?”, “what if there’s nothing healthy to eat at the airport?”, “UGH. I don’t want to eat hotel food for a week”.

But soon I got thrown into traveling regularly and I became a pro at figuring out how to stay healthy, sane and slim on the road.

Since travel is something that will always be a part of my life and yours, it doesn’t mean our bodies and health have to suffer.

In this episode of J-ciniTV, I give you a few easy-peasy tips to stay slim when traveling and beat that dreaded airplane bloat…

Watch what I do before leaving town:

(Don’t miss the few silly seconds at the 1:15 mark)

PS. Ever feel like your clothes don’t fit the first few days you arrive at your destination? That’s airplane bloat. Do this to feel flat-belly fabulous upon arrival.

2 Easy Tricks to Survive a Food Coma

November 26, 2013

Ever eat so much on Thanksgiving that you want to curl up on the couch and take a nap?

Napping after consuming your daily allotment of calories in one sitting is a TERRIBLE IDEA as your body will just pack it away turning your belly, butt and thighs into jiggly-wiggly flab.

Instead of slowly sinking into a weight gaining slumber…what you need to do is rev that metabolism!

Now, I’m not telling you to go jump on a treadmill as soon as you step away from the table… That’s not fun and you’d prob yak your pumpkin pie. But there is a secret trick that’ll double your metabolism without putting your fork down and prevent you from food coma sleepies.

And I dish it out in this episode of J-ciniTV.

Make Thursday your thinnest Thanksgiving yet! Watch this now:

Did you know there are 4 Roots that trigger Emotional Eating?
