“I saved over $ 10,000 working with you last year” was in a love note I received last week from Amy, who finished my signature program Laugh Yourself SkinnyTM last year.
She told me that she had been prepping her tax stuff and she couldn’t believe how shifting her relationship to food saved her some serious cash!
When I first met Amy, she would pop over to the mall every Wednesday for some retail therapy. She told me she didn’t like to buy clothes because she felt nothing ever fit her, but she never met a pair of shoes she didn’t like. For her, grabbing a couple heels at Nordstroms was motivation to get her to Friday without biting her b*tch of a boss’ head off.
I secretly knew that this habit wasn’t much different than her, or any woman’s, relationship to pigging out on cookies after a long day.
I like to use the analogy of putting a different “band-aid” on the same boo-boo.
And whether your band-aid is retail therapy, gluten-free crackers, chocolate or wine – the problem isn’t the kind of “band-aid” you use.
The problem is at the root…”the boo-boo”…what’s really triggering the need for retail therapy or grabbing for the cookies.
For Amy, once we cleared up her “boo-boo” with food, it blossomed into that she didn’t need a new pair of shoes to catapult her through her week. Hence, her serious savings.
Wanna learn how she did it? Check out this week’s episode of J-ciniTV!
I give you a secret something that you can start doing NOW so you can clear up your boo-boo and save the dough you’ve been spending on band-aids!

P.S. Amy’s story gets even better. One of her desires when we started working together was to take her husband on a paid-for-by-her Caribbean vacation where they leave the kids at home. She’s set to take off for her dream vacation in 30 days.

3 years ago I went to a health coach who told me to start every day with a green smoothie. Desperate to slim down, I invested over $400 smackaroos in a blender on steroids and started every morning waking my neighbors by pulverizing kale into slurp-able green goo. At first my waist started to shrink…but then I hit a plateau. A stalemate.
Regardless of drinking green smoothies every morning and working out 7 days a week, I was nowhere near feeling good in my body. Which catapulted me back into the dieting cycle…looking for that next ticket that would get me a little slimmer, a little trimmer and one more baby step closer to finally putting this dieting crap to bed so I could finally get on with my life. Once I discovered the fat-blasting foods that were right for MY body, I learned that that my beloved green smoothie was actually making me fat.
Nowadays it’ll be once in a blue moon that I have a green smoothie and if I do, it’s never first thing in the morning.
Before you go off the deep end thinking you’ve been lied to once again and all healthy food, including green smoothies, isn’t safe for you to eat…hold uuuup.
Green smoothies are a great way to get your greens in and are a great healthy tool. However, there are some BIG green smoothie mistakes that I see a lot of women making and things that I was even guilty of in the past. So I’m taking what I learned and what I see and giving it to you straight.
In today’s episode of J-ciniTV I tackle the dirty secrets behind how your green smoothie is making you fat and what to do instead so you can keep sippin’ n’ slippin’ into your skinny jeans.
Get the dirty secrets here:

With just 2 days till my birthday, I’ve been jammin’ out to Katy Perry’s Birthday song…have you heard it? Even if you aren’t a March baby like me, you gotta take a listen.
In it, she takes the words right out of my mouth sayin’ “make it like your birthday everyday”.
WHY?
Well think about it…in life we’re always working towards something…whether it’s to lose weight, move to a new town or get a raise at work, we all have goals and once we achieve one, another one pops up. It never ends until, well… life ends.
So you have 2 choices. You either ONLY dance once you reach your destination OR you dance ON YOUR WAY to your destination.
If dancing your way to your destination is more appealing but you’re not really sure HOW or if it really works, keep reading.
One thing I’ve learned is that we MUST appreciate, celebrate and straight up party with the here and now. We must consume the goodness that we currently have in order to move forward (in the most pleasurable way).
Otherwise, we get constipated (on life) similar to when we aren’t able to digest food.
And walking around constipated is debilitating. And miserable.
So this leads me back to Katy Perry…in order to dance your way to your destination, it requires you to honor yourself every day. Honor the baby steps. Honor the ups and the downs. And celebrate, celebrate, celebrate.
If you’re feeling uncomfortable with this task, I’ve got your back.
In this week’s J-ciniTV we’re going to start with baby steps and make sure you don’t feel like a cheese-ball having a “party” with yourself.
I give a you an example of a few of the things I’m celebrating as I add another year on this planet to my belt while I’m still on my way to my destination.
Get a peek at the party here:
Celebrating is the juice, the motivation that keeps you going when the going gets tough.
So whether you’re 10 miles or only a block away from where you started, raise a glass…you’ve made it! Yippie!

Jessica
Ever have a day where you’re so busy that you forget to pee…let alone eat?
I talk to women who struggle with this all the time. Where they *might* eat a breakfast and not swallow another bite until they collapse in the evening.
If you’re trying to lose weight you might think this is no big deal…after all, you’re not consuming calories and you don’t get hungry during the day…so why eat, right?
Sorry! The “I’m too busy to eat” or “I just don’t get hungry during the day” will bring your efforts to slim down to a screeching halt…no matter how many days you sweat or how much kale you eat.
Since I know you’re busy, I’m going to save you a few minutes of readin’ time because in this weeks episode of J-ciniTV I’ve put in all the details of WHY this is a terrible habit, WHAT you need to do instead and HOW to do it without sacrificing your to-do list and the 50 places you need to be at once.
And lucky for you, I used to be ‘el presidente’ of the “I’m so busy” club! I know how hard it can be to remember cool fun tips especially when it comes to putting yourself first when your to do items are multiplying like bunny rabbits, so I’m dishing out a rap-tastic way to remember it.
Trust me! You’ll get twice as much done when you do this:

We’ve allll been there…that awkward time between 10am and lunch where hunger creeps in a lot earlier than it should! Where you find yourself playing eeny, meeny, miny, moe to help you choose between your only 2 dreadfully disappointing options:
Option 1 is to eat and not be hungry for lunch (which means giving up your excuse for a mid-day sanity break)
or
Option 2 is to work through the hunger and pray you make it to your lunch break without passing out (or deliriously watching the minutes tick by)
Neither of these options are fun nor will they put you on the fast track to dropping a pant size!
So I want to give you a secret weapon that is!
In today’s episode of J-ciniTV, I dish out 3 secrets that’ll have you smooth sailing all morning long. That way, you can focus your time, energy and mind space on tackling that to-do list with grace and ease!
Warning! This secret will shock you:

After a Laugh Yourself Skinny session with me, my clients will often report how I always make them feel lighter, calmer and peaceful…like this losing weight thing is tooootally doable. Other people have even gone as far to say that I’m like a beam of sunshine.
Which totally makes sense because I spend the first moments of my day working a secret tool I have to make sure I’m “little miss sunshine” everyday.
Because what I’ve realized is that the happier I am, the better I feel in my body…and the more sh*t I get done during the day.
After all, when you feel good, you look good. And you’ve got to be happy to do good work.
Most people assume that happy people have easy lives. Saying, “oh, she’s got it so easy. I’ll never have that”, justifying their poopy mood.
Well my friend, as a woman these days, no ones life is easy.
But that doesn’t mean that you can’t be happy!
And like we talked about in last weeks J-ciniTV episode, your thoughts manifest in your body.
Feelin’ good? Your body will feel light, tight and sexy.
Feelin’ poopy? You body will feel bloated, heavy and stressed.
So wanna know my secret to staying happy amongst the sh*t sandwiches life hands us?
It’s in this weeks episode of J-ciniTV!
Pull up a chair and join me on the couch to get this simple secret to feeling light as a feather all the time:
So let’s put this practice into action ASAP so happy days can be here again. Remember happy = healthy!
For this week’s coach’s challenge, name one thing you’re grateful for and place it in the comments below. I know you’ve got tons to be grateful for so feel free to add in more than one!
And let’s bask in all the happiness it brings!

One of the most common lines I hear from women who are struggling to lose weight is, “I’m eating healthy and exercising – and I don’t know what’s wrong with me! – I just can’t seem to lose these 10 pounds!”
Then a mental spiral starts with all the possible reasons why she hasn’t lost the weight yet…
“Well…maybe it’s portion control. I probably eat too much,” she says. “Or maybe I need to get my thyroid checked.” “Or [huge sigh] maybe I should start running.”
Let me set the record straight, if this situation feels familiar, the reason you aren’t losing weight has nothing to do with portion control, your thyroid or logging miles.
The truth is, there are 5 major pieces to losing weight AND keeping it off for good.
As much as I’d love to go in-depth about these 5 pieces and why you’ve hit a plateau with Weight Watchers, I’m going to refrain from making this post 10 pages long.
