Sipping, Glowing & All Things Juice With Kristin Lubsen!

August 19, 2014

A lot of people ask me what I eat, especially for breakfast.

For a few years I always had a green smoothie for breakfast. I loved how it replenished me after a good morning sweat and the greens I’d put in it were like natures coffee.

Then after a while, I started to discover my morning greenie was making me bloated.

So I cut it out and went months without it.

I missed my morning greens but longed for a way to be kind to my digestion.

As a replacement, I tried powders and pills but I’m not a fan of supplements and they just made me want to gag.

Then, one day when I was walking home from the gym I passed by a new little juice bar that opened up. I went in and had my first green juice.

It was yummy. My tummy liked it. And I even had a little pep in my step when I finished it.

Before that, I only thought of juice as something that was a part of a juice cleanse…of which I had horrific memories of starving, wanting to kill everyone in sight and being so low on energy I felt like I had the flu.

I started to make my morning juice a routine and started to notice how beautiful it made my skin, how energized I felt and how my body LOVED it.

I discovered there was this whole other world of juicing – how different ingredients could do different things for your body and how drinking it at different times of the day meant different benefits.

Now I consider myself a conservative when it comes to juicing, so I’m not here to tell you to drink 64 oz. of green juice a day. After all, I only drink about 12 oz.

But what I do want you to know is that juices can be a great option to add into your daily routine. And you don’t have to cleanse in order to reap the benefits of a good juice.

So in this week’s episode of J-ciniTV, I popped into my fav local juice spot, Sip-N-Glo, to give you the 4-1-1 on this crazy juicing world. We talk about how there’s more to juice than cleansing!

One Simple Way to Eat Pretty

August 12, 2014

You’d have to be living under a rock if you haven’t heard someone talk about crazy methods to slow down with your food in order to lose weight…like counting your chews or even chewing your food till it’s liquid.

For me, those techniques never worked. Counting my chews made me feel like a robot and chewing my food till it’s liquid…well, that’s just gross.

And where’s the pleasure and enjoyment of your food if you’re obsessing over every bite?

While these looney tactics didn’t resonate with me, I still needed a way that I could slow down with my food…one that no one would be able to sniff out if I was sharing a meal with them… and one that was actually fun.

Then it hit me. I knew just the thing.

So I started practicing eating this new way… And you’ll never guess what happened!

Meal time, whether dining with 10 peeps or just me, became fun, enjoyable and tasty – like a mini vacation in my day. I stopped overeating and would land confidently at satiated – not stuffed, not starving and not grazing for more.

And the best thing was that I could actually enjoy my food without becoming a crazy control freak over every bite.

Wanna know what it is?

3 Reasons Why Your Fitbit Isn't Working!

August 5, 2014

I love myself a good gadget!

After all, their usual purpose is to save time and stress in your life so you can have more fun.

Take my strawberry slicer, for example. It creates perfectly sliced strawberries in less than 1 second. Not only is it fun to “shoot” strawberries, but it saves me precious time and my fingers from visiting a knife’s guillotine. It’s a genius idea.

So naturally when the Fitbit gadget started to get some hype, I had to try it.

If you aren’t familiar with them, they look (and feel) somewhat similar to what I’d imagine a house arrest bracelet would be (I actually purchased a Jawbone UP).

At first I was all excited about mine. It gave me counts for how far I would walk in a day and counts for how many hours I slept each night.

I now know that CJ has an extremely small bladder and we walk more than 4 miles a day for him to just go poo and pee.

But after about 48 hours of wearing this device, I started to see some REAL problems with it. Unavoidable problems that will cause you to GAIN weight.

Especially if you’re a woman who moves and eats healthy and still can’t seem to slim down.

Before you go out and sink $100+ buckaroos into this wrist computer, watch this week’s episode of J-ciniTV:

The Dirty Truth About Food Allergies

July 29, 2014

Super excited about this week’s topic for J-ciniTV because it’s where my journey of laughing myself skinny began and how I dropped 10 pounds in 2 weeks without starving myself.

Looking back on that point in my life, since then, so many doors have opened in my life because I chose to do things differently.

And if I could do a backflip without breaking my neck, I’d be doing multiple out of anticipation of what walking through this door for you will open up.

It begins, where most people begin when they want to shed some lbs…fiddlin’ with food.

Now let me be very clear about something…eating healthy has NOTHING to do with losing weight.

Because not all healthy food is created equal.

Just because something is deemed “healthy” doesn’t mean it’s gonna leave space for you to button your pants without suffocating.

So what’s a gal like you to do?

It’s time to find the fat blasting food that’s right for you…the first step every woman takes when she’s in Laugh Yourself Skinny.

Don’t worry, in this week’s J-ciniTV we give you a way yo start fiddling with your food where you’ll actually be able to see the number on the scale go down.

And it doesn’t require you to buy a bunch of books or get a ton of tests done, either. It’s more of a no-brainer.

Jessica Procini & Jolene Hart on Emotional Beauty & Glowing From The Inside Out

July 22, 2014

Did you know that a woman will spend over $15,000 on makeup in her lifetime?

I believe it.

In fact, a few years ago there was a time when I wouldn’t leave the house without makeup on. And if I had a friend sleep over, I’d even SLEEP with concealer and foundation on to mask my pizza face.

I used to buy sooo many beauty products, desperate to find what would make me look and feel beautiful.

My oh my, how times have changed.

Nowadays, I love going fresh faced just about everywhere. This might sound silly but sometimes, because of my past, I still get a little shocked when someone compliments how beautiful I am without makeup on.

I now know exactly what to do to have my inner glow radiate out of my face like sunbeams. And it doesn’t come from a bottle or a cream.

And I want to share these secrets with you!

To help get this beauty party poppin’, I invited my dear friend and former In Style Beauty Editor Jolene Hart to this week’s episode of J-ciniTV.

She just came out with an ahh-mazing book called Eat Pretty and in this week’s episode we both dish out our fav beauty secrets and how to glow from the inside out…without having to spend a year of college tuition to get it.

Got a fav beauty secret? Share it in the comments below the video and help make every woman look and feel more beautiful!

Thanks for your input and for tuning in!

See ya next week!

Why Your Workout Isn't Working!

July 15, 2014

When I first quit my corporate job, I stepped up my workouts to 20+ hours a week. I was back in school and when I wasn’t studying, I was working out.

At first I thought this was awesome. I finally could burn more than I ate. I would finally have the body I always wanted.

I would skip down the street thinking about how I’d finally have magazine cover 6-pack abs and how my triceps would stop jiggling when I waved.

But I never got there.

My belly still looked bloated and my arms…well, they still looked like MY arms.

I was pissed.

How could this be?

I said to myself, “I’m eating healthy and literally living in my lululemon, how could I NOT get the body I always wanted?!”

Well, if I could go back in time and tell myself what I know now I would’ve had a LOT more time on my hands. Not to mention energy and fun times too.

And I hear this is a familiar situation for a lot of women who I work with.

Ok, maybe they aren’t working out like it’s a part time job, but they are moving their bods and that number on the scale is staying put.

So in this week’s episode of J-ciniTV, we tackle a major reason why sweating your buns off isn’t getting your buns to budge.

Watch out. You’re never gonna believe this:

Crazy right?

Try it!

Love, health & laughter,

P.S. Wanna know more about finding a workout (and meal plan) that’s perfect for you? This Sunday I’ll be in NYC teaching and talking about all things Laugh Yourself Skinny! Let’s hang out! More details here.

Let's Hang in NYC!

July 9, 2014

I have exciting news!

A few weeks ago one of my best buds called me up and begged me to speak at this event called Goddess On The Go. I had heard her talk about a few of these events in the past and was always curious as to what she did there because afterwards she sounded like she was literally walking on sunshine.

When I started to get more information about the day… a community of like-minded women, 3 awesome speakers (including me!), a delicious organic lunch, and a sassy sensual workout by S Factor…well, I just couldn’t say no.

It sounded like a day on the Laugh Yourself Skinny Escape!

I’m thrilled to be speaking at the event and even more thrilled that a ton of my gal pals will be there too.

Will you come party with us?

It’s taking place on Sunday, July 20th at the luxurious Ramscale Studios in the West Village.

Since I’d really love to hug you and hang with you, I was able to snag you a special $20 savings off the original ticket price. Just use the promo code JESS to keep that cash in your pocket (and possibly a glass of bubbly at the end of the day!).

You can grab your ticket here.

And if you’re worried about missing out while everyone else goes to the beach, bring them with you!

It’s gonna be a freakin’ blast!

Lots of love and I can’t wait to squeeze you!

P.S. If you know nothing about S Factor, let me tell you it is my all-time fav way to move my body. So much so that this spring I’d drive 4 hours round trip to NYC every week to take class. It’s that amazing.

I’ll save you a spot on the dance floor!

How To Have Fun & Save Time In The Kitchen w/ Beth Kaufman

July 8, 2014

Last week I appeared on the Delicious Life Show  and confessed I don’t cook. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I used a pot or a pan.

But it wasn’t always this way.

I used to spend HOURS on my feet chopping, prepping and cooking EVERYTHING. I thought it was my golden ticket to finally having the body I always longed for.

Well, this got old (and f-ing exhausting!) for me very fast. Cooking eventually became overwhelming and stressful.

And any good that I was doing by eating clean was quickly counteracted with the burden of the stress I’d encounter each week I’d try to do it all.

Not fun.

And not a sustainable way to slim down.

So whether you have a love or a hate for the kitchen, this J-ciniTV episode is for you.

This week I invited our natural foods private chef from our annual Laugh Yourself Skinny EscapeTM, Beth Kaufman, to give you her best kept secrets to cutting time in the kitchen in half and making it a hell of a lot more fun!

Beth is a genius in the kitchen. One thing I learned from her is how when you stress less in the kitchen, you can put a lot more love into your food. 🙂

Start having more fun and spending less time in the kitchen by doing this:

The Best Wines for Weight Loss with Michael McCaulley

June 24, 2014

I once had a client say to me “I’ll never give up my red wine so don’t even try to make me”.

Like clockwork, at 6pm every night she’d pop a bottle of red and pour herself a glass as she prepped dinner.

I replied with a giggle, “don’t worry, I’m not going to make you give up anything you don’t already want to.”

Now that’s not something you’ll hear a lot of weight loss experts say. But I knew that when she started Laughing Herself Skinny, she’d be slimming down no matter what she drank, or ate.

And she did. She lost 10 pounds in just a few weeks…without sacrificing her beloved glass of vino.

Well, the first thing you should know is that not all wine is created equal. While the only thing that may really differ to the eye about wine is color, there are certain wines that’ll help you slim down and some that will pack on the pounds.

And the answers are in this week’s J-ciniTV episode and I’m SUPER DUPER excited about it!

I interviewed one of the founders and directors, Michael McCaulley, of my all-time-favorite wine spots here in Philadelphia, Tria. He dished out the details on which wines are best for weight loss.

And you’ll never guess what he had to say about my love for a glass of champagne!

Click below to get all the things you outta know in order to keep sippin’ yourself skinny:

Love, health & laughter,

P.S. This is my fav time of year to go to Tria. You can find me at a table by the window with one of my best friends giggling over a glass of Prosecco and the duck salad. Yummy! If you live around these parts, I hope to see you there one day 😉
