Ever vow to give up dessert until you can slip back into your skinny jeans?

Back in the day, I was the queen of cutting things out in an effort to slim down.
My love for dessert was always the first to get axed.
Which only lead to eventually eating the whole PAN of brownies, rather than just one. No matter what, if I started the process with sacrifice, it always ended ugly.
At first, I thought there was something wrong with me. Like I wasn’t born with enough willpower or something.
After a while, I realized I needed to do things differently. And that’s why in Laugh yourself Skinny we follow the concept of “yes and”.
Yes, you can eat brownies AND still lose weight.
While you won’t catch me in the kitchen very often these days, there are a few faves from my LYS Recipe Database that I will whip up.
And my Fudgy NO-Pudgy Brownies are one of them.

It used to take me HOURS to get dressed. I eventually had to start laying out my clothes the night before because EVERYTHING I tried on didn’t fit.
The tears. The frustration.
Talk about painful experiences. Thank goodness those days are long gone.

Ohh the thrill of being able to ditch the puffy jacket and fleece tights and being able to walk around town without pouring summer sweat…these are a few of my favorite things about Spring.
However, 3 years ago I used to spend this time of year PETRIFIED to just open the windows.
One word: ALLERGIES
My seasonal allergies would hit me so bad I was taking TWO 24 hour Claritins a day + Mucinex and still couldn’t breathe. Sneezing and watery eyes would quickly turn into sinus infections and days in bed. Thanks to my allergies, I never got to enjoy much fun when spring sprung.
Until I started eating the food that was right for my body.
Now…well…I can’t remember the last time I took, let alone bought a Claritin…it’s been years.

Holy (skinny) cow!
I’m still sippin’ on the sweet syzzrup from the Laugh Yourself Skinny Escape.
I’ve been checking in with a few of the women since they got home just 2 weeks ago and I LOVE hearing the stories of how one woman’s fiancée was blown away by her glow of happiness since she arrived back home and how another woman is continuing to eat the foods that are right for her body and how it’s tripling her energy!
I am so grateful that I got to be in person with these women for a week and teach them how dropping a pant size can be simple, relaxing and most of all, FUN.
But I have to be honest, going into that week I wasn’t sure what to expect…
Of course I know my Laugh Yourself Skinny strategies work…most of my clients drop anywhere between 5-20lbs in just three months of working together. And I eat, breathe and live my teachings myself.
But chunking it down into just 5 days…well, honestly…I was a little nervous.
No juice cleanses.
No crazy boot-campy workouts.
No portion control.
Could this really work in just 5 days?
The answer… YES!
Everyone lost MORE THAN 5lbs in just 5 days together!
Even the staff slimmed down! haha!

I am bubbling over with joy and gratitude. Last week I hosted the first Laugh Yourself Skinny Escape where 9 women unplugged, rebooted and shed hundreds of pounds – physically, mentally and emotionally.
I love watching the transformation and their faces as they get their zest for life back all without starving themselves or working out 24/7.

While I love to travel and be with my clients in the flesh, it feels so good to be back home snuggling with my little pup CJ.
When I first rescued him, there were days would I would envy him. I mean, can you blame me? His first nap is at 9:30am and he lounges in the sun allll day.
And he NEVER worries about if his pants will fit.
Despite his freedom from weight worries, he’s taught me some very important lessons when it comes to finding fun while trying to drop 10 pounds.

Let me tell you about my first, and only, one night stand…with Spanx (aka compression shapewear).
At the time, I was desperately trying to drop 10 pounds, without much success and was heading to a summer wedding in a dress that was basically a neon sign that I had been eating too many cookies.
I purchased a pair of Spanx that compressed everything from my boobs to knees.
Even though my belly looked flat, at the wedding I was miserable…literally in tears from being strangled by my underwear. I could barely enjoy my dinner nor the dance floor, let alone take a deep breath.
When they were cutting the cake, I went to the bathroom…not to pee through the little hole in the crotch…but to trash these things.
Never EVER have I ever put myself through that torture again. It’s just not fun.
A lot of women, like I once did, use shapewear as a way to flatten their tummy, slim their thighs and smooth their back fat until their body gets there by itself.
But the truth is, the more you wear Spanx or other compression shapewear, the more bloated your belly, the more thundery your thighs and the more rolls on your back.
This week, I’m giving it to you straight that your “power panties” are actually causing you to pack on the pounds…in addition to a multitude of other health issues.

When chatting with women who are interested in learning more about Laugh Yourself SkinnyTM, I’ve heard some pretty crazy techniques women take when it comes to slimming down. (No shame, we’ve all tried something off the wall…even me!)
The white rice diet, the cookie diet and the fasting diet are at the more extreme end. Weight watchers, counting calories and cross fit are some of the more “normalized” methods.
Either end of the spectrum, they’re all kinda crazy. Because each method, that is not customized to you – your body, your lifestyle – always leaves you back at square 1…STILL trying to lose weight.
So instead of beating yourself up that you fell victim to some of these methods that you knew were never sustainable (like I said, we’ve all been there)…let’s have some fun with it!

Ever feel so stressed like you’ve got a one way ticket to crazy town…running around like a chicken with your head cut off? Welcome to my world just a few years ago. My friends and family used to start every sentence with “I know you’re so busy…” before they’d say anything to me.
Nowadays, honestly, my day isn’t any less stressful. Come to think of it my life is prob more nuts with a booming business and a 7 month old rescued puppy.
But I’ve gotten REALLY good at handling it all.
Now people say to me, “how do you do it all?”
When it comes to handling a never ending storm of stress, it doesn’t mean gritting your teeth and muscling through it. Or daydreaming your prince will appear and whisk you off to Jamaica so you can finally live your fairytale life.
What it means, is taking really good care of yourself.
Let’s face it, every day is a battle. We should get a gold star for just being able to get out of bed in the morning.
But I’m sure you’re still waiting for yours to arrive, like I am mine.
So how do we prep ourselves to stay sane during the insane?
Let’s start with food. There are a number of foods that you gotta have in your back pocket when life gets crazy. They’ll help you stay grounded, focused and believe it or not, relaxed when the going gets tough so you can keep going.
And don’t trigger you to go for MORE food. In this week’s episode of J-ciniTV, I share with you 3 of my top stress fighting foods that are little soldiers I use as ammo for when my pup has me cleaning up poop at 4am and I have 50 things to do the next day.

“I saved over $ 10,000 working with you last year” was in a love note I received last week from Amy, who finished my signature program Laugh Yourself SkinnyTM last year.
She told me that she had been prepping her tax stuff and she couldn’t believe how shifting her relationship to food saved her some serious cash!
When I first met Amy, she would pop over to the mall every Wednesday for some retail therapy. She told me she didn’t like to buy clothes because she felt nothing ever fit her, but she never met a pair of shoes she didn’t like. For her, grabbing a couple heels at Nordstroms was motivation to get her to Friday without biting her b*tch of a boss’ head off.
I secretly knew that this habit wasn’t much different than her, or any woman’s, relationship to pigging out on cookies after a long day.
I like to use the analogy of putting a different “band-aid” on the same boo-boo.
And whether your band-aid is retail therapy, gluten-free crackers, chocolate or wine – the problem isn’t the kind of “band-aid” you use.
The problem is at the root…”the boo-boo”…what’s really triggering the need for retail therapy or grabbing for the cookies.
For Amy, once we cleared up her “boo-boo” with food, it blossomed into that she didn’t need a new pair of shoes to catapult her through her week. Hence, her serious savings.
