How To Avoid Winter Weight Gain

December 9, 2014

I was having chitchat with my friend Laura last week when she started to tell me how difficult it was for her to keep weight off during the winter.

She said things like…

“In the summer I easily walk everywhere, now I take cabs so I don’t freeze. And it used to be easy for me to work out after work because it was light till 8pm. Now the sun sets at 4:30 pm and all I want to do is go home, put on sweat pants, and hibernate; which is fine, until summer rolls back around and I have to work twice as hard to lose what I gained in the winter.”

My first response was “this would make a great J-ciniTV episode!” to which she rolled her eyes and giggled.

I quickly followed it up with a few tweaks she could make to keep slim and sexy all year round.

And then I did make exactly what I told her into a J-ciniTV episode so I could share it with you :  )

How To Avoid Holiday Stress Eating

December 2, 2014

Presents and parties added to the already overwhelming list of daily to-do’s is enough to make you go comatose in about 2 seconds. Right?

When you’re up to your eyeballs in stress and feeling like the walls of your world are collapsing as each minute goes by, realize that stress puts you in a catatonic space.

It can nearly be impossible to think straight, let alone make decisions that are in alignment with your desire to slim down.

Let’s be honest, we can’t make our day 28 hours long and you can’t not feed your kid or pick them up from school.

So what to do when your to-do list gets high and you’ve got about 5 seconds before you find some reprieve in that big bag of potato chips?

Well, it all comes down to you.

Meaning how you take care of yourself.

Ever notice when you’re really taken care of…well fed, well rested, and even just wearing something that makes you feel like a million bucks… you get more done? And you’re more outgoing without that second cup of coffee.

You MUST make sure your batteries are charged.

Because let’s face it, it’s like a war out there.

That’s why in today’s episode of J-Cini TV, we’re calling in the troops. I’m dishing out my secret weapon that gets me through the insanity.

I do this regularly.

Don’t just survive this holiday season, thrive…with this:

How to Get Your Family's Support

November 25, 2014

I’m Italian.

And whether your mom has ever exclaimed “Mangia! Mangia!” at the table or not – family can be a real obstacle when it comes to building a healthy relationship with food.

It’s like you can do fine in your own home at your own table with no one around; but, as soon as mom, Nona, or Aunt Stacey enter the picture…you’re screwed.

And with Thanksgiving being this Thursday, we’ve got to tackle this before you hit the table, because being a hermit in your own home for the rest of your life is not an option (and not fun!).

In this week’s J-CiniTV, we look at 2 family situations and I tell you exactly what to say – word for word – so you don’t end up overeating just to make everyone else happy.

Come to the table prepared with this and you’ll be smooth sailing!

And your family will feel more loved too!

Because no one can argue with this:

And since we’re in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to tell you how grateful I am for you. For being here, reading these emails, watching J-ciniTV… your openness and willingness to change and love is amazing. I am so grateful I can be of service to you.

Lots of love and happiest of Thanksgivings!

A Juicy Secret To Get You Through The Holidays

November 18, 2014

Don’t be alarmed that the convo here has started to shift to talk about the holidays.

I want to make sure you’ve got tricks in your back pocket to prevent you from a continual downward spiral until Jan 1.

That’s why today we’re talking about our good friend, willpower.

I hear a lot of women reaching for it when they start to fall off track.

“I do well until the weekend…That’s when I lose my willpower”

“I couldn’t have just 1 brownie. It’s like I have no willpower”

The truth is, holding onto or finding more willpower is a twisted sacrificial way of getting yourself to follow through that never works in the long run.

In today’s episode of J-Cini TV we’ll get this all straightened out so you have exactly what you need to stay on track this holiday season, or every day for that matter.

This was a huge game changer for me and I am confident it will be for you too.

And it’s a way more fun way of doing things:

Remember: keep moving forward towards your goals- you can do this! Stay committed. No. Matter. What.

What To Do When You've Eaten Too Much

November 11, 2014

I remember this like it was yesterday.

The night where I ate more than I ever had before.

I had just moved into my own apartment in Center City, Philadelphia.

I was out with friends and I got a little carried away.

It was a night where I just ate and ate and ate and ate.

Afterwards I felt so sick. My belly looked like I was 5 months pregnant. I felt so nauseous because the guilt of it all was so ungodly.

Ever have a night like this?

Instead of getting sick, I decided to work it off.

So there I was, feeling disgusting, working out in my living room at 11 pm, after what should have been a basking in the after effects of a fun night out with my friends. All in an attempt to erase some of the calories I had so guiltily consumed.

2 minutes in, I only felt worse!

Back then, I wish I had known that there is a better way, a healthier way. And how to stop this same cycle from repeating itself like it did for me for years.

But now I do! And I want to share it with you!

If you’ve ever found yourself in a similar situation or think maybe knowing what to do after you’ve overeaten could be beneficial (Hello Thanksgiving!), I highly recommend you watch this:

If you’ve suffered from similar situations, I can help you.  Let’s set some time to chat. You don’t have to suffer through this alone.

And feel free to share this with a friend or family member. She (and I) will love you forever for it.

Cheers to a healthy relationship with food and your body!

What Every Woman Needs to Know About Her Body

November 4, 2014

Do you work out, eat healthy… yet still have excess weight hanging on?

I’ve seen a lot of women try to up the ante by working out more often (or more intensely)…

Like choosing a crazy boot-camp class burning 500 MORE calories than their beloved yoga class in hopes that it’ll put their booty back where it should be.

But when the insanity doesn’t work or you can’t stick with it longer than 2 weeks, you secretly start to wonder…what’s wrong with me?

Or even, “maybe I wasn’t born to be thin; maybe I just have to settle with my muffin top because I am older now.”

If you’re thinking anything like that,  it’s time to put a fork in it.

Despite what you’ve unsuccessfully tried in the past (because you wouldn’t be here if it worked), and regardless of your age (pre or post-menopausal), I want you to know you were not born to feel like you want to crawl out of your own skin every day.

I truly believe that everyone has the power to have a body they love. But, not everyone knows how to access it without sacrificing their life.

So in order to have a body AND a life, there is something that you MUST start doing differently. Something I coach my clients on and I do consistently day in and day out.

And the answer is in this week’s J-Cini TV episode.

Here’s how to start seeing results:

So, the next time you wake up feeling heavier than normal, instead of researching juice cleanses, remember what I’ve said in the above video.

Thanks for tuning in!

How To Stop Binging On Halloween Candy

October 28, 2014

I’m getting super excited for Halloween this year!

One of my best gal pals gifted CJ with this cute little devil costume. Turns out he doesn’t mind wearing it *that* much 😉

CJ Halloween 1

I find dog costumes hilarious!

Halloween Afro Dog

While Halloween can bring a lot of fun parties and costumes, if you’re trying to get your weight under control, Halloween can cause a lot of stress and anxiety.

Why?

CANDY.

It’s everywhere. And who hasn’t wished that willpower came in a special little pill so steering clear of it didn’t feel like such a fight!

Behold this week’s episode of J-ciniTV!

No more battling through candy chaos! In this week’s episode I lay out a very specific game plan on how to free yourself from binging on Halloween candy.

Because less fighting = more fun!

Here’s the plan:

Got a gal pal who could also benefit from this plan? Forward this email to her and share the healthy wealth!

And have a safe and very happy Halloween!

Better Than The Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte

October 21, 2014

‘Tis the season for all things pumpkin and slight addictions to Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Lattes.

The truth is most pumpkin treats are full of ingredients that aren’t right for your body…like sugar, cream and cat pee.

Yes, cat pee. (More on that in this week’s video but know I’ve done the research.)

Now I speak from personal experience and from coaching my clients, that cutting things out, especially something you love and only comes around once a year is a very tall order.

That’s why in this episode of J-ciniTV, we’ll be replacing one pumpkin treat with an even BETTER one. This is one of my clients’ all time fav pumpkin recipes. Plus, it’ll help you have some breathing room in your skinny jeans.

Here’s to enjoying pumpkin season and slimming down too!

Here’s how to make it (and to find out more about what contains cat pee – eek!):

One Reason You Can’t Put Your Fork Down (And What To Do Instead!)

October 14, 2014

This past weekend my older bro tied the knot! It was a fun-packed weekend bursting with celebration and once in a lifetime moments.

Me and my brother

Me and my brother!

Speaking of once in a lifetime moments…that brings me to today’s J-ciniTV topic!

This has been coming up a lot in my sessions with my clients and can strike pretty heavily when the festivities and holidays start to roll around.

It’s a major source of feeling uncontrolled around food and leads to eating when you’re already full and even when you know you should stop.

It’s like this fear compels you to keep eating.

Which has you leaving gatherings, celebrations and parties feeling guilty rather than filled full of love from your friends and family.

So let’s put a stop to this!

In this week’s episode of J-ciniTV, we tackle this important source of emotional eating so you can quit feeling out of control with food…especially around your friends and family!

A Healthy Way to Rebel

October 7, 2014

Does this ever happen to you?

Where you find yourself being really “good”… you’re following whatever eating regime you have for yourself… you’re getting your butt back to sweating regularly… and you’ve got your naughty food cravings under control…

Until “being good” sucks… where you’re like, “where’s all the fun?!”

And you find yourself eating when you’re not really hungry, having a couple too many bits of mac n cheese and one too many glasses of wine.

Once you’ve veered far enough off track, you renew your commitment to “being good” again and do well for a little while.

Until that feeling for fun and a little rebellion starts to creep back in… and it all begins again.

I see this as a common cycle for so many women and it can easily turn into a perpetual cycle of 2 steps forward, 1 step back.

This can get pretty frustrating when you realize if you could just figure out how to not take that step backward, you’d be smooth sailing and slipping into that little black dress in no time.

Fear not,  I’m here to help!

In this week’s episode of J-ciniTV, we get to the bottom of why this cycle starts and how to put an end to it, so your 2 steps forward are really just that – 2 steps forward.

Here’s how to eliminate that 1 step backwards:

If you feel like you’re stuck in this perpetual cycle of doing well for a little while and then falling off track, and you feel like healthy rebellion isn’t going to set you straight, I highly recommend you get some support and clarity around what’s standing in your way.

I’d love to support you with this and have just a few spots open in my calendar for women who are really committed to breaking this cycle for good.

You can nab some private time with me by filling out the application for a discovery session here.

From there, we’ll get clear on what you need to break this cycle for good so slimming down is no longer a painful perpetual cycle of ups and downs.

I’m here to support you!

xoxo
