What do you do when you feel anxious?  

I used to eat.  

In the past, even before I would open my eyes in the morning, an electrified wave of anxiety would surge through my body.  

The only way I knew how to escape it was to eat.  

At the time, food comforted me. It distracted me. It numbed me.  

But it never really made my problems go away. On the surface, it just dulled the pain. 

I didn’t think it was that big of a deal that I would eat my feelings…until my pants didn’t fit.  

That’s when I knew if I kept eating my stress and anxiety, I’d be 600lbs by the time I was 40 years old.  

There needed to be a better way.  

From there, what I found is a practice that is a non-negotiable for me. I do this everyday, if not multiple times a day.  

What I do is I connect in with my higher power (God, the Universe, Buddah, Goddess, Big Daddy…whatever language resonates with you). 

I have a very specific and powerful way that I am doing this.  

I’ve found it to be very effective. 

For me, it has helped me put the cookie down multiple times and also for my clients.

And I want to be able to share with you too.

Did you know this about me? (a vulnerable story…)

If we were to bump into each other on the street 5 years ago, you would have never said, "Jessica is an emotional eater". 

You would have never known.  

From the outside, I didn't have 100's of pounds to lose and I wouldn't overeat when I was around other people…

And I could  have gone on living that way.  

Secretly stuffing myself when I was home alone. And spending 20 hours a week at the gym trying to work it off. (that's not an exaggeration!) 

On the inside, I felt like I was trapped. Suffocated. In my own skin!

My relationship with food was such a burden it felt like I was wearing a backpack full of bricks and lugging it everywhere I went.  

And to make it even worse, I was a certified health coach!  

Yep! At that time, I was a health coach who would teach others about kale and whole grains by day and stuff myself with chocolate at night.  

And the truth is, I could  have kept living that way. No one would have known. 

But it was torture. 

I knew I was missing something. I knew there had to be more to this food thing than kale and crunches. And most of all I wanted more out of my life!  

So I searched and searched and searched. And what I discovered changed EVERYTHING.  

And it's exactly what I'll be sharing with you in the special training I'm putting together for you on Feb 17 called, Finally! The Answer To Your Food Problem!

What I discovered is what has helped me see food as fuel. Where I don't even think about food anymore!  

And surprisingly has led me to drop 30lbs and go from a size 29 to 26 jeans. (I didn't even know I had weight to lose).  

But that's not what really matters.  

What continues to surprise me is the amount of energy, time and happiness I’ve received as a result of my freedom from fighting food.  

Looking back it makes sense that after I healed my emotional eating, is when my business and my life really expanded (like I was on TV multiple times, I created long term transformational programs like the Laugh Yourself Skinny Escape and I found my love, Zach, and we got engaged!).   

I would have never been able to do those things bearing the burden of emotional eating.  

I share this with you, because even if from the outside people can't really see what you're doing with food, I want you to know there's so much more available for you in this lifetime.  

And I stand here as an example of that.

When your ignorance is no longer bliss

Do you follow the 80/20 rule? Where you’re “on track” with food for 80% of the time and then let yourself indulge the other 20% of the time?

Here’s why the 80/20 rule is a big mistake for emotional eaters…watch this:

PS. I’m not saying you can never have a piece of cake ever again. That wouldn’t be fun! But what this is really about is no longer turning a blind eye to your relationship with food.

Food is fuel. And if you’re eating when you aren’t really hungry just because there are brownies, you LOVE brownies and you were SO “good” this week – then there’s a serious problem here. If you continue on this trajectory you will encounter serious health issues.

I don’t want to see you get to that point.

Let’s talk about how you can have your brownies AND love your body too, with this.

Wait! Wait! Not the dark chocolate covered…

I used to have this thing with dark chocolate covered…well… anything.

My life, at that time, started at 5am and I went 100 miles an hour till about 7pm. Then I would come home and go straight to the pantry.

I felt like I had so much on my plate during the day that in the evening when there was actually some breathing space my mind was STILL going 100 miles an hour.

And I didn’t know how to make it stop…choc-balls

Other than to eat my favorite things…

Like these dark chocolate covered guava balls…

So I would eat them. At 100 miles an hour, too.

Today, as I’m writing you this, I had to actually google them to see if they still existed because I’ve been free from this once uncontrollable pattern for years.

And I want you to know that this pattern, of mindlessly reaching for food at the end of the day, can be broken.

If that’s hard to believe I stand here as an example for you.

I am proof that life is so much sweeter when your not inhaling dark chocolate covered guava balls.
