This is really important, so please read from top to bottom, ok? 

Back when I started my own personal journey of healing my emotional eating, I saw firsthand how sick and twisted my relationship with my hunger was

I have memories of being a ravenous child… like asking for double the homework so I could get ahead in school 🤣 and how innocent my physical hunger was after swimming in the ocean like a mermaid for hours. 🧜🏻‍♀️ 😇

Then, as I got older, I remember my hunger was entirely squelched out of me.

I remember learning (from diet culture and other sources) that being hungry was bad. It was a sign that I was weak.

I remember being criticized for my preferences, repeatedly hearing that I was “high maintenance” or that I was “too much” – ultimately believing I was a burden to others

I remember being ridiculed, judged, and shamed over and over again. 

Unable to cope, I learned that it was safer to “disappear” by not having any hunger (physically) or desires.

Because if I didn’t admit what I wanted, I would never have to feel shame or guilt… I’d never have to be rejected or ridiculed… I’d never have to feel any of it.

Looking back, I can see how resisting and severing all forms of my hunger – whether it was physical hunger to feed my body or emotional hunger, like a yearning in my soul – was just the beginning of losing touch with myself.

Now from healing my own relationship with food and helping others do the same for the last 11+ years, I know I’m not the only one who has their wires crossed with it comes to our relationship with hunger, desires, and yearning. 

Because we, as women, in this patriarchal society, have been groomed to deny our hunger, defer our needs, and never, ever admit what we truly want.  

But here, at Escape From Emotional Eating, we give 2 middle fingers up to the patriarchy by getting back in touch with ourselves

Think about this: were you ever taught healthy, doable ways to manage and move through difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences? 

I know I wasn’t. 

When I finally discovered I was an emotional eater (even though I didn’t have hundreds of pounds to lose and was already a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner), I also discovered that because I hadn’t been taught healthy right-for-me ways to manage and move through difficult thoughts, feelings, and experiences that I had the emotional maturity and intelligence of a 10-year-old. 😳

I was close to 30 years old at that time. 😳😳😳

Now I’ve come a loooooooong way since then. 

Now I no longer use food as a way to “come down” after an intense day or experience. 

Instead, I’ve become emotionally literate and know very deeply the language of my body

I no longer feel overwhelmed by the thoughts or sensations in my mind and body.

I have such a higher level of emotional and energetic fitness and stamina. (Which is a big deal for a deep feeler like me! 😂)

Food is no longer my go-to when it comes to celebrating or “treating” myself.

Instead, I know what types of pure love and acknowledgment nourish my soul AND my body. 

And my relationship with food is free from guilt, shame, and the old chaotic cycle of “ugh, why did I just eat all of that?!” 

I know these may seem like bold claims (even as I’m typing this, I can hear this small scrappy voice in my head is like, “really, Jessica?!”), but this is true

I can confidently say I now know easy, doable, healthy ways to move through difficult thoughts, feelings, emotions, and experiences thanks to tools like Digesting Emotions®, The Fear Flush®, Trigger Re-Training™, and more! 

These tools I originally developed for myself when my 932 hours of therapy weren’t touching my deeply rooted problem of using food to cope

Hi! Every once in a while I come across something that brings me so much joy, that I just have to share it with the people I love. Since you are a part of my inner circle 😉 I wanted to share a few things I have been using and loving in my personal life in hopes that it will elevate yours as well!

🌟 Aura Bora Sparkling Water
My mentor Heather first introduced me to this elevated sparkling water and it was love at first sip! While other sparkling waters taste fake and often leave me with a tummy ache, I really appreciate that Aura Bora uses the highest quality ingredients straight from plants.  I really love all the flavors, but the Lavender Cucumber and Lemongrass Coconut flavors have a special place in my heart.

As a deep feeler, I’ve really been feeling the weight of the world recently. I know from my work and my own journey of healing my emotional eating, that we must feel, process, and transcend our emotions so we can stay rooted, grounded, and connected to our Highest Selves, even in the midst of chaos. Emotional eating is like driving 90 miles per hour on the highway with your eyes closed. 

Because emotional eating disconnects you from yourself, your senses, and your feelings – which you need access to in order to stay in tune with and follow through on your inner guidance. 

On top of that, emotional eating is evidence that you are constantly consuming the limiting beliefs that you are not worthy enough, smart enough, or good enough. 

Most importantly, emotional eating leaves you disconnected, disassociated, and unavailable to create change. Whether that change is to mother your kids like a she-wolf, take your heart-driven business to the next level, or something else. 

With everything that has been going on in our world (mass shootings, women’s health issues, racial injustice, the war in Ukraine, 2+ years of an ongoing pandemic, and so much more)… now is not a time to be asleep at the wheel.

Instead, now IS the time to put an end to the disconnect, the dissociation, the avoidance, and most of all, the resignation that emotional eating creates.

Now is the time to Escape From Emotional Eating.  

By doing so, you’ll learn how to process tragedy and trauma in a healthy, more sustainable way

It will put you back in touch with yourself, your senses, and your feelings, so you are able to sense moment to moment what is needed

By being released from what no longer serves you, like emotional eating, your body, mind, and soul will be of full service to your inner guidance and fulfilling what you are being called to do. 

Most of all, you’ll be ready, equipped, and fully available to impact change.

Our world needs you. It needs all of you. Especially the part that emotional eating steals.

Regardless of what your relationship with her is like today, the link between you, your mother, and food is undeniable.

For most people, this link between mothers, daughters, and food is a huge blind spot
